LEARN TO SEW WORKSHOP

The workshop is based in a small group setting,  perfect for anyone learning to sew! 

This workshops is suitable for both beginners or more experienced sewers.  This hands-on session will guide you through the basics of setting up a machine, a variety of need to know stitches & the completion of a simple project.

With all fabric & equipment provided, including thread, and embellishments, you'll learn essential sewing techniques while creating a one-of-a-kind cushion cover for your home or a thoughtful gift for someone special.

WHAT WILL THIS WORKSHOP COVER?

 The day will start with sewing machine basics in a creative & friendly environment before moving on to stitches, various seams and our cushion cover project.

~ What are the parts of the sewing machine, how to thread a sewing machine, what a spool is and how to wind one.

 ~ How to change the settings on your sewing machine (Stitch length , tension & other important info)

 ~ How to sew a straight stitch, how to sew your first seam.

 ~ How to sew a variety of seams

~ How to sew curves and corners

~ How to do hems & some basic finshes

 ~Using our new skills to create our very own Cushion cover project, multiple fabric choices available.

This is a practical class where we will have time to explore a sewing machine and practice different stitches. Students will leave with a selection of samples & a Cushion Cover.

WHO IS THE WORKSHOP FOR?

 This class is suitable for absolute beginners! You don’t need to have ever used a sewing machine before, or you may want to remind yourself of the basic skills & join in a fun creative workshop.

Please note to attend this workshop you must be over the age of 16.

WORKSHOP INCLUDES

 ~ Full use and access to your own Janome 230DC sewing machine

~ All fabrics & thread are provided by AWT studio,

(we use deadstock, toiles & sample fabrics to help keep our workshops as sustainable as possible).

~ All tools and equipment

~ Teas , Coffee & sweet treats! 

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

We advise bringing a packed lunch and a bottle of water and any other essentials you need throughout the day.

We will have 30 minutes for lunch & there a local coffee shops & places to eat on the yard and in the area.

 ACCESSIBILITY

The container studio has ground level access and there are no stairs. There is a step up into the container though, so please bare this in mind. We have public toilets accessible on site, again at ground level. These do also have a step up to enter.
